Akasa has placed a massive order of 72 Boeing 737 Max back in November last year. Akasa is said to compete with India’s budget carriers like Indigo, Go first and Spicejet.

After its launch on 7th August, with its maiden flight from Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport to Ahmadabad. The airline said that it would keep adding one aircraft to its fleet every 2 weeks after the budget carrier receives its 3rd aircraft.

The founder and chief executive officer of the airline, Vinay Dube said that the airline was “well capitalised” to induct 72 new aircraft over the next 5 years. This was while he was mourning the death of the airline’s top patron and India’s veteran investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala who passed away on 14th August.
