
AirIndia Aircraft with nearly 200 people onboard skidded at Karipur, Kolkata on Friday evening around 7:45 PM. As per the Initial reports two casualties have been confirmed, One pilot dead in the mishap and other injuries are yet not confirmed. The plane broke into 2 pieces in the incident.

Rajeev Jain, Additional DG Media, Civil Aviation Ministry said that no fire was reported at the time of landing. “There are 174 passengers, 10 infants, 2 pilots and 5 cabin crew onboard the aircraft. As per initial reports, rescue operations are on and passengers are being taken to hospital,” he said.
PM Narendra Modi spoke to Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan who told him that a team of officials including Kozhikode and Malappuram District Collectors and IG Ashok Yadav have arrived at the airport and are participating in the rescue operation, Kerala CMO said.
