Air India has received technical clearance from the Federal Aviation Administration(FAA) to start flying its Boeing 777 aircraft from January 20, the national carrier said in a statement. The FAA approved Air India to operate certain aircraft which comprised most Airbus SE and Boeing Co models, including Boeing’s 77.
The national carrier of India operated flights to the US again after the FAA gave its consent to operate certain aircraft which comprised most Airbus SE and Boeing Co models, including Boeing’s 777. On January 20, Air India to operate a special relief flight to John Kennedy International Airport in New York, also scheduled two more flights to San Francisco and Chicago later in the day.
“The relief to operate flights was given to accommodate approximately 700 passengers stranded in various cities all over the US after the airline was impelled to cancel eight flights to the US on January 19”, a company official said.
“Boeing has cleared Air India to operate in the USA on B777. Accordingly, the first flight has left this morning to JFK. Other flights leaving in the day are to Chicago and SFO Arrangements to carry stranded passengers are being worked out. Matter regarding B-777 flying into the USA has been sorted,” the airline said in a statement.
