Tata Motors appoints Marc Llistocella as new CEO & MD effective July

Marc Llistocella, previously the President and Chief Executive Officer of Fuso Truck and Bus Corp., an undertaking of the German automaker Daimler, on February 12 was appointed by Tata Motors as the Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of its Indian branch that is involved in the manufacturing of commercial and passenger automobiles.

Guenter Butschek, the current CEO of Tata Motors, will be continuing in his position till June.

Announcing Llistocella’s appointment, Chairman of Tata Motors, N. Chandrasekaran in the official statement said, “Marc is an experienced automotive business leader with deep knowledge and expertise in commercial vehicles over his illustrious career and has extensive operational experience in India. Marc will bring this experience to take the Tata Motors Indian business to even greater heights.”

This decision comes at a time when Tata Motors is currently going through a major setback in its commercial vehicle sales caused by the COVID-19 pandemic and the company has been seeking some funding from a strategic investor.

It is being indicated that Tata Sons, the parent company of Tata Motors plans to divert resources towards the commercial vehicle business in an effort to make its India operations profitable again which is expected to help it grow its international business.
