Mercedes-Benz unveils upgraded G 400d as flagship luxury SUV in India

Mercedes-Benz has introduced the refreshed G-Class range in India, including the latest addition of the G 400d model. Priced at ₹2.55 crore (ex-showroom), the 2023 Mercedes G 400d represents a significant upgrade over the outgoing G 350d, with an increase of ₹83 lakh. Enthusiasts can now book the G 400d by paying a booking amount of ₹1.5 lakh, as Mercedes-Benz aims to capture the high-end luxury vehicle market in India. The G 400d variant comes equipped with a powerful 3.0-liter OM656 in-line six-cylinder diesel engine, delivering an improved 330hp and a torque of 700Nm. With a 9-speed automatic transmission, the G 400d can accelerate from 0 to 100kph in just 6.4 seconds, one second faster than its predecessor.

Retaining its traditional ladder-frame construction, the G 400d features the dedicated G-Mode for off-road driving and offers impressive capabilities, including a ground clearance of 241mm and water wading ability up to 700m. The Indian market offers two variants of the G 400d, both priced at ₹2.55 crore (ex-showroom).

Mercedes-Benz has also introduced a special G 400d Adventure Edition exclusively for India, alongside the existing AMG Line. The Adventure Edition offers four distinct exterior paint choices, handpicked from the brand’s exclusive G Manufaktur range. Customers can choose from Desert Sand non-metallic, Vintage blue non-metallic, Travertine beige metallic, and South Seas blue metallic. Additionally, a total of 25 paint shades are available across the G 400d lineup.

The Adventure Edition features unique elements such as 18-inch silver alloy wheels with a 5-spoke design, a roof rack, a spare-wheel holder, a detachable ladder, and a full-sized spare wheel mounted on the tailgate. On the other hand, the G 400d AMG Line showcases iconic AMG styling, highlighted by distinctive 20-inch alloy wheels with a multi-spoke design, along with additional exclusive equipment. Notable features include a sliding sunroof, a Burmester sound system, and an ambient lighting system with 64 selectable colors.
