Maruti Suzuki struggles with overwhelming backlog of pending orders

Maruti Suzuki, the leading car manufacturer in India, has been enjoying a strong sales performance in recent years, thanks to its popular models such as the Baleno and Breeza. However, despite the impressive sales figures, the company is currently grappling with a staggering backlog of over 386,000 pending orders.

According to reports, Maruti Suzuki has yet to fulfill the delivery of more than 386,000 vehicles. In addition, the recently launched Jimny, which has garnered significant attention for its advanced features and ability to rival the Mahindra Thar, has received an overwhelming number of bookings, totaling over 31,000 units. As a result, the waiting period for the Jimny has stretched to 8-9 months.

The brand is also facing substantial pending bookings for its other models. The popular Brezza has approximately 55,000 pending bookings, while the Grand Vitara has 33,000. The Fronx is not far behind, with more than 28,000 pending orders and a waiting period of 4 months.

Shashank Srivastava, Senior Executive Officer of Marketing and Sales at Maruti Suzuki, addressed the issue of pending orders. He acknowledged that the feature-packed MPVs Ertiga and XL6 have a combined backlog of over 100,000 units. Srivastava attributed the backlog to the ongoing supply chain crisis and production constraints that the company has been facing for an extended period.

Maruti Suzuki is working tirelessly to meet the overwhelming demand and reduce the backlog of pending orders. The company is actively addressing the challenges in the supply chain and production processes to ensure a smoother delivery experience for its customers. Despite the current constraints, Maruti Suzuki remains committed to providing high-quality vehicles and exceptional service to its valued customers.
