Is Ford Territory SUV coming to India? Here’s everything you need to know

The chances of Ford returning to India have been a big topic since it excited the market in 2021. While the American manufacturer has not made any official statements, a recent flurry of trademark filings in India has fueled rumours about its comeback.

Ford may be considering introducing the Territory SUV to the Indian market, according to trademark filings uncovered online. In some foreign markets, this mid-size SUV is referred to as the Equator Sport; however, in nations such as China, South Africa, Vietnam and Mexico, it is called the Territory.

With its dominating presence on the road, the Ford Territory stands out by its large honeycomb grille, split headlights, attractive C-shaped LED DRLs, and striking alloy wheels. Its interior features include a panoramic sunroof, six airbags, a huge trunk, two 12.3-inch displays, an advanced driving assistance system (ADAS) and connectivity features.

Two different engine options—a 1.5-liter and a 1.8-liter Ecoboost 4-cylinder engine—power this mid-size Ford vehicle. Industry reports indicate that Ford may introduce this mid-size SUV to India by the end of the next year, despite the lack of official confirmation as of now. If it is introduced, it will compete with the Mahindra XUV700, Tata Harrier and Tata Safari in the Indian market.
