Hyundai and Kia have announced an additional investment of $1.54 million in BOS Semiconductors, a startup focused on developing vehicle semiconductors.
BOS Semiconductors specializes in designing and developing system semiconductors tailored to the automotive industry’s software and requirements. The company is known for its competitiveness in areas such as high-performance, low-power semiconductor design, safety and reliability-related technologies, and AI semiconductor technology for autonomous driving.
This investment follows the Simple Agreement for Future Equity (SAFE) approach, where funds are provided to startups with uncertain valuations initially.
Hyundai and Kia previously invested in BOS Semiconductors in August 2022 through an established fund for startup investments.
The automakers aim to strengthen their collaboration with BOS Semiconductors and drive the development of customized vehicle semiconductors applicable to electric and self-driving vehicles.
