The Citroen Basalt coupe SUV, which debuted in India in August 2024, has seen a price increase for the new year. Following the end of its introductory period, prices have gone up by up to ₹28,000 across the model range. The Basalt now starts at ₹8.25 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes up to ₹14 lakh for the top-end variants.
The price hike primarily affects the 1.2-litre turbo-petrol models. The base 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol variant sees a ₹26,000 increase, while the turbo-petrol Max variants are ₹21,000-₹17,000 more expensive, depending on transmission. The top-spec 1.2-litre Turbo Petrol Plus manual and automatic variants witness a ₹28,000 price bump. The mid-spec 1.2-litre NA petrol manual remains unchanged at ₹9.99 lakh.
The Basalt is available with two engine choices. The 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine delivers 80 bhp and 115 Nm of torque, paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. The more powerful 1.2-litre turbo petrol produces 109 bhp, offering both a 6-speed manual (190 Nm) and a torque converter automatic (205 Nm). Fuel efficiency is claimed at 18 kmpl for the NA variant, 19.5 kmpl for the turbo manual, and 18.7 kmpl for the turbo automatic.
The Citroen Basalt is loaded with features, including LED projector headlamps, 16-inch alloy wheels, wraparound taillights, rear AC vents, and adjustable thigh support for second-row passengers. The 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with automatic climate control. The Basalt has also earned a four-star safety rating in Bharat NCAP crash tests.
