Tobacco Board reports Rs 12,006 crore exports and 125% farmer income growth in 2023-24

The Tobacco Board has announced record achievements for 2023-24, including tobacco exports of ₹12,005.89 crore, an 87% increase from ₹6,408.15 crore in 2019-20, and a 125% growth in farmer income over five years.

    • Tobacco exports reached ₹12,005.89 crore, with volumes rising from 218.84 million kg to 315.51 million kg.
  2. Doubling of Farmer Income:
    • FCV tobacco farmers’ earnings increased from ₹124.00 per kg in 2019-20 to ₹279.54 per kg in 2023-24, benefiting 83,000 farmers.
  3. Record-Breaking FCV Season in Andhra Pradesh:
    • 215.35 million kg of FCV tobacco produced, with farmers earning an average price of ₹288.65 per kg, the highest ever.
    • Total farmer earnings reached ₹6,313.58 crore, with the top price recorded at ₹411 per kg.
  4. Waivers and Savings:
    • Penalty waivers for 38,751 growers saved ₹184 crore.
  5. Sustainability Initiatives:
    • Adoption of IT-enabled auctions for fair pricing and enhanced farmer support through financial assistance and extension programs.
