Popular comedian Yash Rathi landed into legal trouble as a police complaint has been filed against him for using derogatory comment at the show in IIT Bhilai in Durg district, Chhattisgarh.
As reported by News18, the show was conducted on November 15 at IIT Bhilai, and was packed with students, their parents, and staff members.
A video from the said event went viral on the internet, wherein the comedian can be heard using objectionable remarks and a complaint was registered under him for the same. The IIT management has also filed a complaint against Yash. He started his gig in English, and later turned to Hindi and started using derogatory dialogues in his speech.
The reports suggested that the case has been registered on Monday under section 296 (Obscene acts) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Jevra Sirsa police chowki. Further investigation is underway.
After Yash used derogatory words in his speech, he was asked to step down from the stage. Later, the director of IIT Bhilai Rajiv Prakash said that such use of derogatory words was not seen in previous stand-up comedy acts.
