According to a report released by the Indian Express, the head of India’s pandemic task force has once again warned of the second wave of the coronavirus infection which is not over yet, as coming from tourist spots, pictures of blatant violations of social distancing norms along with daily case detection still above 40,000 and mentioned that if people continue to behave recklessly, cases can explode.

The slow rate of decline was an indicator stating that the virus could take an upper hand if the current situation did not show any changes, as mentioned on Friday by Dr VK Paul responding to a question on the daily new cases graph which has plateaued over the previous two weeks, Paul also mentioned that for at least three consecutive weeks before it could be said that the situation was under control, India needed to achieve a baseline of 10,000 cases.

From 90 districts across the nation, 80% of the new cases were seen coming, as said by the health ministry on Friday. Ten or more of such districts are in the six States which are Odisha(12), Andhra Pradesh (10), Maharashtra (15), Kerala (14), Tamil Nadu (12) and Karnataka (10).

Paul stated that after the first two ways he warned that localised surges were seen and could result in an explosion of the infection. Although the number has slightly fallen to 42,100 between 3rd July and 9th July, the ministry said that between 26th June and 2nd July daily new cases were around 46,258 on average.
