Lalit Jha, arrested in the case of breaching the security of Parliament, was sent to seven-day police custody by a Delhi court on Friday. Who is Lalit Jha?
Lalit Jha was absconding after the entire incident. He is a resident of Bihar. But, he was working as a teacher in Kolkata. On Thursday, he himself surrendered at a police station on duty near Parliament. His father is a farmer. Five people, including a woman, have been charged in the case under sections of the Anti-Terror Law Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the Indian Penal Code. Jha was inspired by freedom fighter Bhagat Singh. He shot videos of the accused planting smoke cans outside Parliament. Handed the video over to an NGO founder to ensure media coverage.
Hide “can” in the sole of shoe
The two youths who were spreading smoke from ‘can’ in the Lok Sabha chamber had brought the left soles of their shoes by keeping them in the space made by cutting them. This has been stated in the FIR of Delhi Police. The pamphlets that these youths named Manoranjan Das and Sagar Sharma brought to the Lok Sabha had a picture of a fist in the background of the tricolour and a slogan each in Hindi and English on the violence in Manipur.
On Wednesday, the anniversary of the 2001 terrorist attack on Parliament, a major security lapse occurred when two people jumped into the House from the audience gallery during the proceedings of the Lok Sabha and spread yellow smoke through a ‘can’. Both of them were caught by the MPs immediately after the incident. Around the same time, Amol Shinde and Neelam Devi spread red and yellow smoke from ‘can’ outside the Parliament House and raised slogans like ‘dictatorship will not work’. According to the FIR, the smoke cans opened inside and outside the Parliament House had warnings and instructions written on them that ‘goggles and gloves should be used while opening.’
Mastermind in police custody for seven days
A Delhi court sent the mastermind of the case, Lalit Jha, to seven days’ police custody. The public prosecutor said that Jha was the mastermind of this incident. He needs to be interrogated to find out the entire conspiracy. After this, Special Judge Hardeep Kaur sent Lalit Jha to the custody of Delhi Police.
Lalit Jha’s mobile will be exposed
Delhi Police told the court on Friday that they want Lalit Jha’s phone to find out the entire conspiracy and motive behind the Lok Sabha security breach. Police told Patiala House Court that Lalit had conspired the entire case by assigning responsibility in the scheme to Sagar, Manoranjan, Neelam and Amol. So the police needs to take him to different cities and places. Delhi Police said that Lalit’s mobile should also be recovered so that the main motive of the incident can be ascertained.
