Pushkar Singh Dhami’s swearing-in ceremony to take place tomorrow

Pushkar Singh Dhami’s swearing-in ceremony as the new Chief Minister of Uttarakhand will take place at 5 pm on Sunday. The announcement was made by Uttarakhand’s Raj Bhavan Secretariat.

Pushkar Singh Dhami has been elected as the new Chief Minister of Uttarakhand after the former CM Tirath Singh Rawat resigned late at night on Friday. The BJP legislator announced his selection in the meeting held at the BJP headquarters.

Dhami has been the President of the BJP youth wing in the hill state and is a two-time MLA from the Khatima constituency in the Udham Singh Nagar district.

His election was considered surprising as the Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj and legislator Dhan Singh Rawat were said to be strong contenders for the office.

Dhami arrived at Uttarakhand Governor Baby Rani Maurya’s residence at around 4:30 pm on Saturday.

After resigning from his post, the former Uttarakhand CM Tirath Singh Rawat said that he is sure BJP will sweep the 2022 assembly elections. This statement came mere hours prior to the legislator meeting.

Rawat resigned before the deadline for his election as the MLA in the state assembly. His resignation came four months after his appointment as the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand.

“I’m very happy but feeling a little sad that his father is not with us to see him (Pushkar Singh Dhami) as Chief Minister of Uttarakhand. He worked very hard for this,” Pushkar Singh Dhami’s Mother Vishna Devi told ANI.

Celebrations were witnessed in CM elect Pushkar Singh Dhami’s residence.
