Rapid Action Force deployed as Tamil Nadu Minister V Senthil Balaji faces money laundering charges

Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel have been deployed at Omandurar Government Medical College as Tamil Nadu Electricity Minister V Senthil Balaji undergoes medical examination following his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with a money laundering case.

The ED took V Senthil Balaji into custody on Monday night after conducting raids at his Karur residence and his office at the state secretariat. The DMK leader was subsequently brought to the hospital for questioning and medical evaluation. The presence of the RAF indicates the tense atmosphere surrounding the situation.

DMK MP and lawyer NR Elango, who visited V Senthil Balaji in the hospital, stated that the minister has been shifted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for medical attention. Elango mentioned that doctors are currently evaluating his health condition and noting down any injuries sustained during the alleged assault. Official confirmation of the minister’s arrest is yet to be received from the ED.

Meanwhile, DMK minister Udhayanidhi Stalin assured that V Senthil Balaji is undergoing treatment and that the party will handle the situation legally. He also expressed confidence in facing the political challenges posed by the BJP-led central government.

The DMK leaders have alleged that V Senthil Balaji complained of chest pain during the ED officials’ custody. They further claimed that the minister appeared unconscious when he was taken to the hospital. In the wake of the ED’s actions, Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Udhyanithi Stalin, Health Minister M Subramaniyan, Public Works and Highways Minister EV Velu, HR and CE Minister Sekar Babu, along with several DMK supporters, arrived at the hospital to meet V Senthil Balaji.
