Kerala: Indian Navy orders inquiry in INS Chetak’s accident at Kochi runway

The Indian Navy initiated a probe to investigate the case of the tragic accident, “A Board of Inquiry has been ordered to investigate the cause of accident,” said the spokesperson of Indian Navy.

Naval sailor Yogendra Singh, a Leading Air Mechanic (LAM) got killed in a tragic accident. The accident took place in Kochi after the aircraft INS Chetak crashed while doing maintenance taxi checks at INS Garuda, Kochi. Sharing the demise of the sailor on the microblogging app X, Indian Navy posted “A Chetak helicopter met with a ground accident today during maintenance taxi checks at INS Garuda, Kochi, resulting in the unfortunate loss of life of one ground crew.”

Praying for the peace of the departed soul, Indian Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar and all navy personnel extended their condolence to the family “Adm R Hari Kumar #CNS & all personnel of #IndianNavy mourn the loss of life & pay tribute to Yogendra Singh, LAM who lost his life in the unfortunate accident at Kochi and extend heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.”

The Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff (HQ IDS) also lamented over the incident and took to X expressing their concern and condolence,”General Anil Chauhan #CDS and All Ranks of #IndianArmedForces express heartfelt condolences on the demise of Yogendra Singh, LAM of #IndianNavy in the unfortunate accident at Kochi. Our deepest condolences to the bereaved family – we stand firmly by your side,” posted HQ IDS.
