Fire erupts in Parel BMC School during Makarsankranti Holiday; No injuries reported

This morning, the fire department received a call at 9:10 am reporting a fire in a BMC school located in Parel. The incident occurred during the Makarsankranti holiday, with the school unoccupied at the time. The fire extended to a hall attached to the building, fueled by mattresses stored within. Sockets near the mattress areas caught fire, resulting in 2-3 explosions.

Currently classified as a level 1 fire, the situation prompted the dispatch of 4 fire tenders and 4 water tankers. Fortunately, no injuries or casualties have been reported as of now.

On January 15, 2024, at 09:16 hrs, the BMC’s MFB reported a fire incident at Saibaba School, located opposite Mint Colony Mono Rail Station in Parel, Mumbai. The fire, categorized as Level 1, originated in the store room of the closed BMC School, specifically affecting mattresses. An update at 09:31 hrs confirmed the declaration of Level 1 at 09:20 hrs. The fire was contained to the ground floor of a ground plus upper five-floored BMC school building, involving electric wiring, electric installation, and mattresses. On-site resources include ADFO – 1, Sr SO – 1, SO – 3, 04 FE, 03 JT, 01 AWTT, 01 WQRV, 01 QRV. The mobilized agencies comprise Police, BEST, 108 Ambulance, and Ward Staff. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported at this time.
