Delhi liquor scam: Manish Sisodia arrested by CBI after 8-hour questioning

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) detained a top AAP politician and Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Sunday after hours of interrogation in connection with the Delhi liquor policy issue.

In a significant development, Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia was detained by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Sunday in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case.

For the time being, the Deputy Chief Minister will be accommodated at the CBI headquarters.

On Sunday, the CBI summoned him in connection with suspected irregularities and corruption in the creation and execution of the national capital’s new excise policy. After eight hours of interrogation, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader was detained.

After the AAP’s Delhi Excise Policy 2021–22 was cancelled on July 31, 2022, numerous prominent AAP officials and their close friends have been under investigation by the ED and the CBI.

After the cancellation of the new policy, the Delhi government opted to reinstate the “old excise system” that existed before until November 17, 2020.

After the AAP’s move, Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena sought a CBI investigation into the alleged rule infractions and procedural weaknesses in the execution of the tax policy.

The government investigation agencies have conducted many searches around the nation, including at the deputy CM’s house, who has not been listed as an accused by the CBI. The AAP and the BJP have also been fighting over the alleged scandal.
