
Central Government’s Cabinet Appointments Committee has appointed Vinay Kumar Tripathi as the new chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Railway Board. Tripathi will now replace Railway Board’s outgoing Chairman and CEO Suneet Sharma.
Tripathi, a 1983 batch senior Indian Railway Service of Electrical Engineers (IRSEE) officer. The appointment has been made for six months from January 1, 2022, to June 2022, his date of superannuation and date of re-employment on with effect from 01/07/22 till 31/12/2022 on usual terms and conditions or until further orders whichever is earlier.
Following the orders issued by the committee’s founding officer and Secretary Dipti Umashankar on Friday, VK Tripathi who is currently serving as the general manager of Northeast Railway, Gorakhpur. He is being appointed as the new Chairman and CEO of the Railway Board for the next six months. This appointment will be considered effective from January 1, 2022. A copy of the same in this regard has also been sent to the current Chairman Suneet Sharma.
Suneet Sharma was appointed Chairman of the Railway Board on January 1, 2020. He was working as General Manager, Eastern Railway before being appointed Chairman of Railway Board. He replaced VK Yadav as the Chairman and CEO of the Railway Board.
