Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati has asked the Centre and states to forgive the school fees of children by cutting down their own royal expenses.

She tweeted in Hindi, “Following the coronavirus-induced lockdown, crores of people who are already facing unemployment and unprecedented crisis, are now facing difficulty to depositing school fee of children. It has now come up in the form of protests and they have to face police cane, which is very sad.”

In another tweet, BSP chief said “In the time of such ‘Act of God’, the role of the government as a welfare state especially increases considerably. Central and state governments should reimburse government and private school fees by cutting their royal expenditure, that is, forgive the school fees of children in the wider public interest.”
