Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina receives warm welcome in India

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was given a ceremonial welcome at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Saturday morning. She was warmly received by Prime Minister Narendra Modi upon her arrival.

This marks Sheikh Hasina’s second visit to India in less than two weeks. She arrived on Friday for a two-day state visit, having previously attended Prime Minister Modi’s swearing-in ceremony and the Union council of ministers at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on June 9.

During her visit, Hasina and Modi are set to hold extensive talks on Saturday to strengthen bilateral ties between the two nations.

Soon after Hasina began her visit, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met with her to discuss various bilateral issues. “Delighted to call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of Bangladesh this evening. Her State visit to India underlines our close and abiding ties,” Jaishankar shared on X. “Appreciate her guidance on the further development of our special partnership,” he added.
