As of 12:14 PM on February 5, benchmark indices were trading lower, with the Nifty 50 at 25,628.55, down 0.57%, and the Sensex at 83,340.03, also lower by 0.57%. Weak sentiment was reflected in several frontline stocks, with metal, auto, banking, aviation, and consumption names featuring among the top losers in midday trade.

Hindalco Industries emerged as the biggest laggard among Nifty 50 constituents. The stock was trading at Rs 936.4, down 3.0%, making it the sharpest percentage loser at midday.

Eternal was also under pressure, declining 2.5% to Rs 286.9. The stock featured among the notable drags on the index during the session.

Auto stocks saw selling pressure as Tata Motors PV slipped 2.2% to Rs 367.2, reflecting continued caution around the passenger vehicle segment.

From the consumption space, Titan Company traded 1.9% lower at Rs 4,066.6, weighing on the index despite relative resilience compared to other losers.

Aviation stocks also remained weak, with InterGlobe Aviation down 1.8% at Rs 4,870.4, extending recent pressure in the sector.

In the defence and electronics segment, Bharat Electronics declined 1.7% to Rs 431.7, contributing to the broader market weakness.

Private sector banks were not spared. Kotak Mahindra Bank traded at Rs 406.3, down 1.5%, while Axis Bank slipped 1.3% to Rs 1,321.0 in midday deals.

Paints and financials also featured among the losers. Asian Paints was down 1.4% at Rs 2,417.6, and Shriram Finance traded 1.3% lower at Rs 985.5.
