Indian equity benchmarks ended higher on Wednesday, breaking a two-day losing streak, with Bajaj Finance, Nestle India, and Bajaj Finserv emerging as the top gainers on the Nifty index.
The Nifty 50 rose 0.61% to close at 25,298.40, while the Sensex advanced 0.57%, settling at 82,501.07. Broader markets outperformed the benchmarks, with all major indices ending in the green except Nifty Media.
Among the top performers, Bajaj Finance gained 4.07% to Rs 1,060.65, followed by Nestle India up 3.98% at Rs 1,222.30, and Bajaj Finserv rising 3.14% to Rs 2,082.90. Trent, Asian Paints, HDFC Life, and Jio Financial Services also saw notable gains, advancing between 2% and 2.6%.
In sectoral action, Nifty Realty led the gains, supported by stocks like Prestige Estates and Sobha, while Nifty Media emerged as the only sectoral laggard, with losses led by Tips Music and Dish TV.
Market breadth remained positive, with the Nifty Smallcap 250 and Nifty Midcap 150 snapping their two-day losing streaks. Notably, Persistent Systems surged over 7% after its Q2 results beat market expectations.
Analysts attributed today’s rebound to short covering, easing crude prices, and renewed optimism in financials and FMCG stocks.
