Gadar 2: Government denies reports that claims special screening for President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan

Gadar 2, featuring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, is currently basking in the glory of a triumphant box office run. The film has now claimed the position of the second-highest grosser of 2023. With fans eagerly celebrating the return of Sunny’s iconic character, Tara Singh, after a gap of 22 years, the movie’s success has been met with fervent enthusiasm.

Recent reports indicated that a special screening of Gadar 2 would be organized for President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan. However, the government has promptly clarified that these reports are unfounded. The Indian government’s fact-checking unit dismissed the claims made in media reports, elucidating that the screening of Gadar 2 at Rashtrapati Bhavan is a routine event. The clarification further emphasized that President Droupadi Murmu is not partaking in any such special screening event. In a tweet, the Press Information Bureau’s (PIB) fact-checking unit labeled the claim as ‘fake’ and clarified, “It is a regular screening that happens in Rashtrapati Bhavan and the President had not wished for any such special screening.”


Gadar 2 is a sequel to the 2001 blockbuster film Gadar: Ek Prem Katha. The movie, headlined by Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, has achieved substantial success at the box office. This sequel delves into the legacy of its protagonists, Tara Singh and Sakeena. The narrative is intricately woven amidst the turbulent backdrop of the 1971 Crush India Movement. As for Gadar 2’s box office performance, the film has swiftly surged into the Rs 200 crore club within five days of its release. On Independence Day, the movie’s earnings reached an astonishing Rs 55 crore, setting a new record for its highest single-day collection to date. Consequently, the cumulative box office collection of Gadar 2 now proudly stands at Rs 229 crore.

The tremendous response to Gadar 2’s release underscores its popularity and resonates with the fervor of its predecessor. Fans’ anticipation for the return of Tara Singh has translated into remarkable success, placing the film among the top earners of the year
