Fans have been waiting patiently for the premiere of Changing Ends, an exciting new British comedy on both ITVX and ITV, based on comedian Alan Carr’s childhood during the 1980s in Northampton with a view from the unique perspective of young Alan and his father (who also happens to be a football manager). The fourth season will bring tons more funny, warm, nostalgic, cringe, and typical banter, with plenty of laughs to come courtesy of the legendary adult Alan. The third season was full of funny and emotional moments for all to enjoy, which aired late in 2025.
Changing Ends Season 4 Release Date Speculations
Changing Ends season 4 has formally been picked up by ITV, which had announced a two-season renewal (3 & 4) in November 2024 after their solid showing on the ITVX and ITV channels. While season 3’s broadcast began in November 2025, it will run through late 2025 and early 2026.
ITV has yet to issue an actual release date for the premiere of season 4 as of 2/06/2026, however it has been widely reported that both the 3rd and 4th seasons were developed and finalized simultaneously (shooting scripts done and table readings held), and found space to partially shift production location to include studio-based setups, furthermore indicating that season 4 either has been recently shot, or is in the final stages of production.
Based on the release pattern of the first three seasons (with season 1 coming out in 2023, season 2 in July 2024, and finally season 3 in late 2025), the most logical assumption for the release of season 4 would be between mid-to-late 2026 on ITVX, with a subsequent linear airing on ITV. Actual timing will not be known for certain until ITV communicates an official announcement.
Changing Ends Season 4 Expected Cast
For season four of ‘The Core Cast Will Remain The Same’, the main cast will be unchanged; we are expecting to see Oliver Savell continue as Young Alan Carr, who has moved beyond Alan being a boy and has now stepped into the teenage years of Alan (the older). We’ll also see Shaun Dooley reprise his role as Graham Car, and we will continue to see Nancy Sullivan as Christine Carr, who serves as the emotional centre of the family.
We are also expecting those cast members to return for supporting/recurring roles, including friends from school, family members, and individuals related to the soccer career of Graham Carr. At this point, there are no reported exits or recastings from the core cast or supporting/recurring cast members.
As of now, ITV has not announced any new additions for Season 4.
Changing Ends Season 4 Potential Plot
Changing Ends is a semi-autobiographical sitcom based on the life of comedian Alan Carr growing up in Northamptonshire. The inspiration for much of the story comes from Carr’s family, as well as the influence of his father, who was the manager of Northampton Town F.C. Seasons one through three of Changing Ends focused on Carr’s childhood in the 1980s. Season four will continue to follow Carr as he moves into his high school years and will be set in the early 90s.
Season four will continue to feature stories about growing up, developing as a person, school, families, and the emotional process associated with growing up, as well as humour and warmth. Graham Carr’s career within football will continue to serve as the backdrop for many of the stories, while Alan’s evolving personality and interests will be the focus of the majority of the episodes.
Specific plot details have not yet been disclosed. However, Season four will continue to follow up from the character arc that began in three, rather than hit the reset button.
