“Mating Season” has not been renewed for Season 2. This adult animated comedy from the creators of Big Mouth (Nick Kroll, Jennifer Flackett, Andrew Goldberg, Mark Levin) premiered on Netflix on May 22, 2026 (yesterday), with all 10 episodes available at launch. It follows horny, lovable forest animals—raccoon Ray (Nick Kroll), bear Josh (Zach Woods), doe Fawn (June Diane Raphael), and fox Penelope (Sabrina Jalees)—navigating love, sex, relationships, and the chaos of adult dating in the animal kingdom.
Current status so far
- It’s a brand-new series with strong Big Mouth vibes: raunchy humor, explicit gags, and emotional undertones about modern romance.
- Early reviews are mixed-positive—praising the voice cast, animation (by Titmouse), and funny animal antics, while some note it leans heavily on sex jokes and could use more heart. Viewer reactions are divided (furry fans love it; others find it too crude).
- No renewal announcement yet. Netflix typically waits weeks/months to evaluate viewership data for renewals.
Future Prospects
As it’s an adult animated program from a well-known, highly successful group, if the show has a strong start through its first month there is a good chance that it has a decent chance of continuing. Netflix has funded other similarly funny/rude programs. Since there is still plenty of room for additional crazy stories about being a forest animal in a forest, there is also no current statement about the possibility of additional seasons from either the creators of the series or Netflix at this point.
All episodes except for this week are being streamed on Netflix now. If you like unique, creative approaches to dating/adult life with anthropomorphic characters, then this series is one to watch right away before all of the excitement dies down.
