Imtiaz Ali, a filmmaker, discusses his passion for directing while also discussing how working as a producer and a writer allows him to share more tales with the public. The director also discusses the advantages of web platforms, his most recent projects, including SHE and Dr. Arora, as well as his upcoming movie and how eager he is to get back to work on the set.

When asked about his journey with the production house, Imtiaz Ali said “We’ve had a three and a half year relationship with this production company. I believe that I produce films at the average pace of one every two years, which has been my practice. However, I only come up with one story every few months or so. Therefore, if I direct them, we already know that I won’t be able to make all the movies I conceive of or want to make. To still be able to tell those stories, the next best thing is to manufacture them and also have some kind of artistic oversight. That was the first strategy used to introduce Window Seat.’

Imtiaz Ali spoke on SHE saying the benefit of the online space is that it has an adjustable duration. A show can be created if your tale is lengthy and goes on for a long time. For example, even though I had the idea for SHE long ago, I could never turn it into a movie since back then, only movies were produced. As soon as television series began to appear, I thought, “Yes, I can develop it into a show since it’s more of a character study than a plot-driven narrative.” Additionally, it required additional time.
