The year 2022 seems not to be favourable for Bollywood anyway. Even the most eminent actors are failing to attract the audiences. After back to back failures at the box office including ‘Bachhan Pandey’, ‘Dhakkad’, Aamir Khan’s ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’, Akshay Kumar’s ‘Raksha Bandhan’, Vijay Deverakonda’s ‘Liger’ and Taapsee Pannu’s ‘Dobaaraa’ Hindi film industry is loosing credence to the mass. Now the theatre screens are also turning away.

In an exclusive interview with The Free Press Journal the Executive Director of G7 Multiplex and Maratha Mandir Cinema, Manoj Desai, himself confirms this news.

According to The Free Press Journal, Desai said, “Films are not working well these days and if this continues, then we’ll shut Gaiety Cinema till September 9. All the other theatres shall remain open. Also, these days, people are busy because of Ganesh Chaturthi and Bandra Fair. So now, we’ve not fixed anything. We’ll have a meeting now. But mostly, Gaiety will be shut and apart from that all the theatres will remain open. I have seven theatres and six will be working. Because there are no films now, there’s no point in keeping the theatre open.”

Desai also affirms “Gaiety will be re-opened on September 9 when ‘Brahmastra’ releases.”

Helming by Ayan Mukerji, the film ‘Brahmastra’ casts Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy, and Nagarjuna Akkineni. Shah Rukh Khan also has a guest appearance in the film as confirmed by Mouni Roy.
