Former Bachelor star Sean Lowe experienced a harrowing ordeal when his rescue dog, Moose, attacked him multiple times over 12 hours, leading to severe injuries and emergency medical attention.
The first incident occurred during a barbecue at Lowe’s home. Smoke from the grill triggered the indoor smoke alarm, prompting Lowe to wave a dish towel near the detector to clear the smoke. Moose unexpectedly reacted aggressively, biting the towel and nipping Lowe’s finger. Despite Lowe’s verbal reprimand, the dog’s aggression escalated; Moose began biting Lowe’s feet, puncturing his shoes, and then launched a full attack, biting deeply into Lowe’s arm. Lowe managed to push Moose outside, but the dog re-entered and attacked again, causing a deep wound that resulted in significant blood loss. Friends present at the scene rushed Lowe to the emergency room, where he received multiple stitches.
The following morning, as Lowe’s parents arrived to take his children away for safety, Moose escaped from the backyard and attacked Lowe a third time. Despite his injuries, Lowe wrestled the dog to the ground and restrained him until police arrived. This incident led to another trip to the ER for additional treatment.
Lowe expressed heartbreak over the situation, acknowledging that Moose had likely experienced significant trauma before being adopted. He emphasized that the dog’s aggressive behavior was unforeseen, as Moose had previously been affectionate and well-behaved around the family. Given the severity of the attacks and concerns for his family’s safety, Lowe made the difficult decision to rehome Moose, coordinating with animal control and a no-kill shelter to find a safe resolution.
This traumatic experience has left the Lowe family grieving the loss of their pet while prioritizing the safety and well-being of their household.
