The looming pandemic has unsurprisingly been a serious threat to the film industry where capital for new projects have skyrocketed for reasons we are yet to find out. Most Bollywood celebrities are understandingly refusing to compromise with the new adjustments in contracts. Shahid Kapoor happens to be one of the few who will.
For his new film Jersey, the actor agreed to compromise his pay by Rs 8 crore. Though the actor did have his conditions. You expected the catch, didn’t you? Sources inform that Shahid is willing to sign Jersey if he gets a “remuneration of Rs 33 crore and a percentage in the profit share.”
According to Pink Villa, a source reported, “Shahid had previously signed Jersey on two conditions – a remuneration of Rs 33 crore and a percentage in the profit share. The makers had mutually agreed on the same demands and the film shoot was on when the COVID-19 outbreak caused a temporary pause in the film’s schedule. In the last few months, the whole perspective of making a film and its budget has changed considerably. So the producers requested their lead star to take a pay cut, to keep the project on floors. They felt the film will otherwise go over-budget.”
All this proves that Shahid knows the film is going to be huge success. “Shahid has slashed his fees by a whopping Rs 8 crore and is now charging them Rs 25 crore. But he is also very confident of the film’s success given the way they are shooting it. So the producers have not changed his profit sharing clause at all,” the source said.
Interestingly, Shahid’s team refused to comment on the actor’s decision which may cause arising speculations of rumors.
Jersey has already begun shooting primarily in Chandigarh and Dehradun to wrap it all up.
