Gadar 2 holds highest Independence Day box office collection in the history of Indian cinema

The total box office collection of Gadar 2 in just five days has mounted to Rs 229 crore.

The much-anticipated film Gadar 2 has started a storm at the box office, and Sunny Deol has broken all prior records as the film has written history in just five days. Gadar 2, which has wreaked havoc in theatres, has emerged as the highest-grossing Independence Day film in Indian cinema history.

Gadar 2 shows no signs of slowing down; contrary, it becomes more frantic by the day. The picture, which has been on a box office tear, has already made over Rs 200 crore in India alone, and it has no plans to let the excitement die down.

Friday, August 11, was the biggest launch day of the year, with four films clashing at the box office, and Gadar 2 has clearly won.

On the occasion of India’s Independence Day on Tuesday, Gadar 2 earned Rs 55 crore, the greatest single-day collection ever. Not only that, but with the astronomical sum, the film has emerged as the highest Independence Day haul in Indian movie history.

Gadar 2’s total box office collection in just five days has reached Rs 229 crore.

Gadar 2 has already become the year’s second highest grosser, trailing only Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan, and if the present craze continues, it would not be shocking if the Sunny Deol-starrer overtakes SRK’s flick in the race.

Gadar 2 had the second biggest opening of the year on Friday, with Rs 40 crore, followed by Rs 43 crore on Saturday, Rs 51 crore on Sunday, and Rs 38 crore on Monday.

Gadar 2 reintroduced the renowned jodi of Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel to the big screen after nearly two decades. It also introduced two new characters: Utkarsh Sharma as Tara Singh’s son and Simrat Kaur as his Pakistani love interest.

Gadar 2 is directed by Anil Sharma and has also become the biggest film of both Sunny and Ameesha’s careers.
