Diu collector talks of the preparations to combat the cyclone; says 2 NDRF teams have already been deployed

Diu collector Saloni Rai says that in order to tackle the situation arising out of cyclone Tauktae, people are being evacuated from their kaccha houses, and NDRF teams have been deployed. She also talks about the further arrangements.

As cyclone Tauktae massively hits the coastal areas, states have been managing to tackle the same. The center has also assured that it would extend all possible supports to the states.

Meanwhile, Diu collector Saloni Rai tells about the arrangements which have been made in order to rescue people and combat the cyclone.

Collector Saloni says, “The expected landfall of cyclone Tauktae is at 8 pm during which winds reaching 150-160 kmph will occur. We’re evacuating people from kaccha houses. 1200 people have been shifted into shelters. We’ve made dual power backup arrangements in Covid hospitals”.

Further adding, she says, “2 NDRF teams are deployed here and 2 teams of the Indian Army will also come. CHC, PHC, and government hospitals will remain functional 24 hours”, as quoted by ANI.

Well, the defense minister Rajnath Singh held a meeting today in order to review the preparedness and assistance being provided by the armed forces to civil authorities to deal with the intricacies.

In addition to this, PM Modi has had a word with the Goa CM Pramod Sawant and the lieutenant of Daman & Diu. He also assured that the center will assist the states to combat the situation.
