Trump administration will crack down on Chinese apps on Sunday

On Sunday the Trump administration will crack down on Chinese apps and Tech firms that they deem a threat to the privacy of United States citizens according to a media report.

Ahead of this Chinese company Tencent Holdings has rebranded its app WeChat Work as WeCom. WeChat was primarily used by individuals in the United States so that they could communicate with their associates in China. After downloading the WeCom app, users can link it to WeChat.

According to sources, WeCom app is not under WeChat transactions and therefore WeCom may go unscathed in the crackdown against Chinese Apps.

US Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross will release the regulations on the 20th of September. Although WeCom has been quite successful in China it has gained little to no traction in the United States.
