SJVN Limited has reached a significant milestone with its 1,000 MW Bikaner Solar Power Project, generating 1 billion units of energy as of 20 March 2026. This accomplishment underscores the company’s commitment to providing clean and sustainable energy to the national grid.
Located in the Bikaner district of Rajasthan, the project is managed by SJVN‘s wholly owned subsidiary, SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL). It was developed under the Central Public Sector Undertaking (CPSU) Scheme – Phase II, Tranche III, by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Government of India. The foundation stone was laid by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, on 3 January 2023, in Jaipur.
The project commenced commercial operations on 24 December 2025, reinforcing SJVN’s dedication to enhancing India’s renewable energy capacity. It is projected to generate approximately 2,454.55 million units of electricity in its first year and about 56 billion units over 25 years. Over its operational life, the project is expected to reduce carbon emissions by approximately 2.78 million tonnes, significantly contributing to environmental sustainability.
The tariff for the project has been set at ₹2.57 per unit, ensuring affordable green power. The electricity generated will be supplied to the states of Rajasthan, Jammu & Kashmir, and Uttarakhand.
