Mercedes-Benz and Microsoft made an announcement on Wednesday about a collaboration using Microsoft Cloud for a data platform aimed at increasing production efficiency at more than 30 passenger car factories worldwide.

According to the statement, the MO360 data platform, which is now accessible in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, will also be made available in China and the United States.

To build a virtual copy that enables teams to more rapidly identify possible supply chain bottlenecks, data from across the production process—from components to logistics to the assembly line—will be collected.

According to the announcement, the collaboration should result in a 20% boost in car production efficiency from 2022 levels by 2025.
