JK Cement has announced a strategic investment in Truere Current Private Limited, acquiring 21,84,000 equity shares at a total cost of ₹2,81,45,490. This acquisition represents a 26% stake in Truere Current, a company focused on renewable energy.
The investment aligns with JK Cement‘s long-term renewable energy strategy, as the company seeks to strengthen its presence in the sustainable energy sector. Truere Current is involved in setting up, generating, and distributing power from renewable power plants in India, contributing to the country’s energy transition.
Truere Current is a special purpose vehicle established by Oriana Power Limited, currently developing a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) as part of its solar power plant project. This system aims to enhance energy management by storing surplus power, ensuring efficient energy use.
The solar power project, located in Tehsil Bap, District Phalodi, Rajasthan, is set to supply 40 MWp of solar power to JK Cement’s Gotan plant. This initiative is part of a Power Purchase Agreement with Truere Current and Oriana.
The transaction was conducted at arm’s length, with no related party interests involved. JK Cement’s investment is a cash consideration, with no share swap involved.
Truere Current, incorporated on 15 April 2024, reported a net worth of ₹35.93 crore as of 31 March 2025, despite having a turnover of nil and a loss of ₹0.37 crore.
