Mr. Agrawal stated that the company had numerous discussions with Elon Musk about joining the board of directors. “Elon’s appointment to the board was to become officially effective 4/9, but Elon shared that same morning he will no longer be joining the board. I believe this is for the best,” he wrote.
“We were both enthusiastic to collaborate and aware of the dangers. We also believed that Elon’s role as a business fiduciary, in which he, like all board members, is obligated to act in the company’s and all of our shareholders’ best interests, was the best way forward. He was offered a seat by the board.”
“There will be distractions ahead, but our aims and priorities remain unchanged. We are solely responsible for the judgements we make and the manner in which we carry them out. Let’s block out the distractions and keep focused on the task at hand,” Mr. Agrawal continued.
