Tata Power, along with Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, has inaugurated Mumbai’s first large-scale EV charging hub under the TATA.ev MegaCharger initiative. The launch took place on World EV Day and was attended by Dr. Praveer Sinha, CEO & Managing Director of Tata Power, and Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility.
The charging hub is located near Terminal 2 of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, inside The Leela Mumbai Hotel premises. The facility has been set up to serve a broad base of EV users, including private vehicles, taxis, ride-hailing fleets, and logistics operators, as well as travelers and professionals moving across the Andheri–BKC–South Mumbai corridor.
The site is equipped with eight fast DC chargers of up to 120 kW capacity, offering a total of sixteen charging bays. This allows sixteen vehicles to be charged at the same time. The hub is powered entirely by renewable energy.
With this launch, Tata Power has expanded its charging presence in Mumbai to over 1,000 points. The hub also becomes part of the larger TATA.ev MegaCharger network. While available for all EV users, the network provides Tata EV customers with certain benefits, including discounts and priority access. Charging services are integrated with the Tata Power EZ Charge app, which has more than four lakh registered users, and will soon be available through the iRA.ev connected car app.
Tata Power currently operates more than 5,500 public and captive charging points, over 1.4 lakh home chargers, and 1,200 bus charging stations across more than 630 cities and towns. The company has stated its plan to expand this to 7.5 lakh home chargers and 10,000 public charging points by 2030.
