Steel Exchange India expands production capacity; Billet and Rolling Bar Mill output up by over 50%

Steel Exchange India Ltd (SEIL) has successfully completed capital expansion projects at its integrated steel plant, significantly boosting its production capacities. The company announced that its Billet Production Mill capacity has increased by 44.8% from 2,50,000 TPA to 3,62,000 TPA, while the Rolling Bar Mill capacity has surged by 58.67% from 2,25,000 TPA to 3,57,000 TPA.

The expansion, undertaken at SEIL’s plant in Sreeramapuram Village, L. Kota Mandalam, Vijayanagaram (Near Visakhapatnam), is expected to enhance efficiency and reduce costs. The company estimates a potential cost saving of up to Rs 3,000 per ton on 8mm and 10mm sizes, which were previously processed externally.

The move is expected to improve SEIL’s operational efficiency while strengthening its position in the domestic steel market. The company confirmed that the official notification regarding the capacity expansion was communicated to stock exchanges on March 19, 2025.
