Reliance Industries Limited has further accelerated its push into India’s fast-growing health foods segment through its FMCG arm, Reliance Consumer Products Limited. The company has acquired Southern Health Foods Private Limited, a well-known health foods manufacturer from Tamil Nadu, best recognised for its flagship brand Manna.
Founded over two decades ago, Southern Health Foods has built a strong reputation in the health-focused packaged foods space, particularly across Tamil Nadu and neighbouring states. Its brand Manna is widely trusted for a broad range of nutritious offerings, including millet-based staples, multigrain mixes, health drinks, breakfast cereals, oats, dry fruits and baby food products. Over the years, Manna has emerged as a key player in several emerging healthy food categories, especially millet flour, baby nutrition and multigrain drink mixes.
With this acquisition, Reliance Consumer Products Limited significantly strengthens its foods and staples portfolio, which already includes popular brands such as Udhaiyam, Independence and SiL. The addition of Manna enables RCPL to build a strong and focused business vertical in the rapidly expanding millet-based foods segment, aligning well with India’s growing shift towards healthier eating habits.
Commenting on the acquisition, T. Krishnakumar, Director at Reliance Consumer Products Limited, said that Manna is one of the most trusted names in health-focused foods in Tamil Nadu, with a visible presence in adjoining states. He highlighted that the brand is known for its nutritious offerings such as millet-based staples, mixes, drinks and baby food, and noted that Manna’s inclusion will add depth and strength to RCPL’s packaged foods portfolio.
RCPL also plans to leverage its robust distribution network, research and development capabilities, and integrated supply chain to expand Manna’s reach beyond its current markets. The strategy is to gradually introduce the brand across other geographies, with the long-term goal of making Manna a household name across India.
