Power Finance Corporation Limited (PFC), through its wholly owned subsidiary PFC Consulting Limited (PFCCL), has incorporated a new Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) company named Tumkur II RE Transmission Limited. The SPV has been established to develop the transmission system strengthening at Tumkur-II for integration of additional renewable energy potential of 1.5 GW.

The Ministry of Power (MoP), via Gazette Notification No. CG-DL-E-21082025-265554 dated August 19, 2025, appointed PFCCL as the Bid Process Coordinator (BPC) to oversee the selection of a Transmission Service Provider (TSP) through the Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process. In accordance with the guidelines, PFCCL will prepare the project profile, initiate the process of land acquisition, and obtain necessary forest clearances, if required.

The newly formed Tumkur II RE Transmission Limited will carry out all preparatory activities for the project, including surveys, documentation, and regulatory approvals. Once the bidding process is completed, the SPV will be transferred to the successful bidder, who will be responsible for developing and executing the transmission system.

The Tumkur-II transmission project is a significant step toward strengthening India’s renewable energy infrastructure. By adding capacity for 1.5 GW of renewable power, the project will support reliable grid connectivity and efficient evacuation of clean energy, contributing to the country’s renewable energy goals.
