Legendary Indian bank Narayana Vaghul passed away in Chennai on Saturday, as per a statement issued by his family, at the age of 88.
“Sincerely regret to inform you that Padma Bhushan Narayana Vaghul sir, passed away this afternoon at Apollo Hospitals Chennai,” read the statement by his family.
Vaghul, who was conferred with Padma Bhushan in 2009, was the one who helped ICICI Bank. He started his career with State Bank of India and at the age of 44- year-old he took over as chairman of Bank of India.
He is survived by his wife, daughter, and son.
