India’s Hero MotoCorp, one of the largest producers of motorcycles and scooters globally, is set to launch its e-scooters in the UK and at least two other European countries by mid-2025, as reported by Financial Times. This marks the company’s first move into developed markets. The e-scooters will be sold under Hero’s Vida electric brand.
According to FT, Niranjan Gupta, Hero’s chief executive, revealed that the company may also explore exporting larger petrol-engine vehicles to the UK and Europe. This expansion comes as India and the UK progress towards a free trade agreement that could reduce tariffs on automotive products.
Hero MotoCorp already exports to over 45 countries across Asia, Africa, and Latin America, and has announced plans to sell e-scooters in France and Spain as part of its European expansion.
As of 9:45 am, Hero MotoCorp’s shares were trading 1.06% higher at ₹6,028.00 on the NSE.
