Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd. (GRSE), a leading warship builder in India, has signed a significant contract worth Rs 123.07 crore with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Government of India, for the normal refit of the Mauritius Coast Guard Ship (MCGS) Barracuda. The warship, originally constructed and delivered by GRSE in 2014, will now undergo a refit under this new agreement.

The refit of MCGS Barracuda includes both services and mandatory spares as per the defined scope of work (DL). Any additional spare requirements will be considered under Growth of Work, ensuring flexibility and efficiency in the refit process.

Although the contract is awarded by a domestic entity (MEA, Government of India), it is classified as an international project since it benefits the Mauritius Coast Guard.

The entire refit process will be completed within 10 months from the date of the ship’s availability at GRSE’s Kolkata facility.
