Adani Energy Solutions Limited (AESL), India’s largest private transmission and distribution company, has secured a major power transmission project worth approximately Rs 2,800 crore in Gujarat. This project is intended to support the upcoming Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia manufacturing hub in Mundra.
On March 20, AESL signed a Share Purchase Agreement (SPA) with PFC Consulting Limited to acquire 100% equity in Mundra I Transmission Limited (MITL), the special purpose vehicle (SPV) handling this strategic transmission initiative. The project will be delivered within 36 months and is expected to significantly strengthen AESL’s transmission infrastructure.
The project, titled “Transmission System for Green Hydrogen/Ammonia Manufacturing Potential in Mundra, Gujarat,” includes the upgrade of the Navinal (Mundra) substation with two 765/400kV transformers and the construction of a 75 km 765kV double-circuit transmission line connecting it to Bhuj. This addition will contribute 150 cKM of transmission lines and 3,000 MVA of transformation capacity to AESL’s growing network, taking its total to 25,928 cKM and 87,186 MVA.
This marks AESL’s sixth major order in the current fiscal year, boosting its total order book to Rs 57,561 crore. The acquisition and project win reflect AESL’s commitment to facilitating India’s energy transition, particularly in the green energy segment. AESL aims to play a pivotal role in delivering sustainable and reliable energy solutions, especially as India scales up its efforts in green hydrogen and ammonia production.
The company confirmed that this acquisition is aligned with its strategy to grow both organically and inorganically, strengthening its leadership in the energy infrastructure space. MITL, incorporated in December 2024, was specifically created to implement this transmission system. The shares were acquired at a face value of Rs 10 each, and AESL now holds full control over MITL.
The successful acquisition of this green energy-linked project marks another significant step for AESL as it continues to lead in transmission excellence and innovation within India’s energy ecosystem.
