Adani Energy Solutions Ltd (AESL), India’s largest private transmission and distribution company and part of the Adani portfolio, has won a significant ₹25,000 crore High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) project. This milestone achievement marks AESL’s largest order to date, raising its under-execution order book to ₹54,761 crore. The Bhadla (Rajasthan) to Fatehpur (Uttar Pradesh) project will expand AESL’s transmission network to 25,778 ckm and 84,186 MVA transformation capacity.
AESL is the only private sector player in India with HVDC assets, making it a leader in long-distance power transmission. This project, acquired through the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) mechanism and facilitated by REC Power Development & Consultancy Ltd (RECPDCL), will establish a 6,000 MW HVDC system spanning approximately 2,400 ckm. It will also enhance transmission capacity by 7,500 MVA.
The project, officially transferred to AESL on January 20, 2025, is part of the “Transmission system for evacuation of power from REZ in Rajasthan (20 GW) under Phase-III Part I” initiative. It aims to evacuate 6 GW of renewable energy from Rajasthan’s renewable energy zones to demand centers in North India and the national grid. AESL will execute the project within 4.5 years.
