Tejas Networks Ltd announced today that it has bagged a significant Telecom Capacity Augmentation Project from PowerGrid Teleservices Limited (PowerTel), a wholly owned subsidiary of Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL).

Under this project, Tejas Networks will design, supply, install, test, commission, and integrate a next-generation SDN-based DWDM network. The project aims to enhance PowerTel’s pan-India optical backbone capacity by deploying a 400Gbps DWDM system across new greenfield locations as well as upgrading existing network links.

Tejas Networks will use its flagship multi-terabit TJ1600 DWDM/OTN platform, which supports up to 1.2Tbps capacity on a single wavelength and includes advanced alien wavelength capabilities. This will enable PowerTel to meet the surging data demand from telecom operators, data center providers, government agencies, and large enterprises.

Arnob Roy, Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director of Tejas Networks, said:

“We are delighted to extend our partnership with PowerTel to strengthen their pan-India DWDM network. Our pioneering alien wavelength solution provides a cost-effective way for telecom operators to expand capacity on existing infrastructure, enhance supply chain diversity, and accelerate service rollout.”

He added that Tejas Networks is among the few global optical networking companies that have successfully deployed alien wavelength technology at scale across diverse and complex third-party optical systems.
