A powerful explosion shook Doha on Tuesday, September 9, targeting Hamas leaders stationed in the Qatari capital during ongoing ceasefire negotiations. The incident has sparked global attention, raising concerns about the future of peace talks and regional stability.
Explosion Reported in Doha During Gaza Negotiations
According to reports, the blast struck an area where members of Hamas’s negotiating delegation were based. Qatar has hosted several rounds of talks in recent months, aimed at brokering a ceasefire in Gaza and facilitating humanitarian agreements.
As per reports, eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos in the Katara District following the strike, with emergency crews rushing to the site. While casualty figures remain unclear, initial reports suggest the attack was highly targeted.
Israel Claims Responsibility
Israeli media, citing senior officials, confirmed that the strike was carried out by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). The operation reportedly targeted senior Hamas leadership, including figures such as Khalil al-Hayya and Jabarin.
An Israeli military spokesperson said the operation used precision weaponry to minimize civilian casualties. Israel maintains that Hamas leaders based in Qatar were directly involved in orchestrating the October 7 attacks and subsequent operations in Gaza.
