Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Drydocks World, a DP World company, to jointly develop ship repair clusters in India. The agreement, supported by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Government of India, aims to enhance the ship repair ecosystem by combining the technical capabilities and industry experience of both organizations.

Drydocks World is a global player in the maritime and offshore oil, gas, and renewable energy sectors, while CSL is one of India’s leading shipbuilding and ship repair companies. The partnership focuses on creating modern infrastructure and expanding repair capacities to meet growing demand. Through this collaboration, both entities will work towards establishing ship repair clusters along the Indian coastline, starting with locations such as Kochi in Kerala and Vadinar in Gujarat.

The agreement also outlines the scope for cooperation in offshore fabrication projects. This may include engagement with other government entities such as major ports to build and expand fabrication and repair facilities. The partnership aims to bring international standards to ship maintenance and repair services in India, supporting the broader goals of Maritime India Vision 2030 and Maritime AmritKaal Vision 2047.

The MoU was signed during the CEO-Connect: Dubai-India Economic Ties & Opportunities event in Mumbai. The signing took place in the presence of key dignitaries including H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Shri Piyush Goyal, Minister of Commerce and Industry, and executives from both DP World and CSL.
