The Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, in its year-end review for 2024, highlighted a significant milestone in LPG coverage across India. Under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, over 32.83 crore households now have access to LPG connections, marking a 100% growth from 14.52 crore connections in 2014. This expansion has been supported by a robust distribution network of more than 25,000 distributors, with a focus on empowering rural India and promoting clean cooking fuel.

- LPG Initiatives:
- 10.33 crore connections provided under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana.
- LPG connections increased from 14.52 crore in 2014 to 32.83 crore in 2024 (100% growth).
- Distribution network expanded with over 25,000 distributors, largely in rural areas.
- Natural Gas Infrastructure:
- Operational natural gas pipelines extended from 15,340 km in 2014 to 24,945 km in 2024.
- Ongoing development of 10,805 km of additional pipelines to complete a national gas grid.
- Ethanol Blending:
- Ethanol blending in petrol reached 16.23% in the ongoing Ethanol Supply Year 2024-25.
- This has contributed to reduced CO2 emissions and saved foreign exchange worth ₹1.08 lakh crore in the last decade.
- Compressed Bio Gas (CBG):
- 80 CBG plants commissioned, with 72 under construction.
- New schemes for financial support and integration with city gas distribution networks.
- Strategic Petroleum Reserves:
- Strategic crude oil storage of 5.33 MMT established under Phase-I.
- Additional storage capacity of 6.5 MMT planned under Phase-II.
- Skill Development:
- Over 41,500 trainees trained in Skill Development Institutes across six cities.
- Refinery Capacity:
- Total refining capacity at 256.8 MMTPA with planned expansions to 309.5 MMTPA by 2028.
